Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! (Episode 6) – Summer! The Beach! I Want to Test My Courage!
What happened?
It was Sakurai’s worst nightmare – Uzaki had taken a part-time job at the cafe! Akihiko thought it would be fun and agreed on the spot. All that was left was for Sakurai to show her the ropes. However, that was all just to wind him up as Ami had already shown her everything before he arrived. See. It’s already fun! While cleaning up, Uzaki asks Sakurai what he’s going to do for the summer. He’s planning on playing video games. She suggests going to the beach. That’s when Sakaki came into the cafe and offered to let them use his summer home. Ami doesn’t like his meddling, but they can’t let these two go off on their own!
At the beach, Ami witnesses the massive weapons that are Uzaki’s boobs and it shakes her to her core. To make matter worse, Sakurai goes off swimming in the sea, leaving Uzaki to be ogled by numerous men. Ami tells him that he needs to protect her and maybe compliment her swimsuit. He does that and gets pushed over, although Ami reassures him he did all right. Sakaki shows up with a watermelon and a baseball bat. It’s time to eat… and have a laugh at Sakurai’s expense. Although, he slips over and finds a jellyfish… or something like that…
They head back to Sakaki’s summer home and are stunned by the size and splendour of everything. They have everything they need for a barbecue and once that’s done, Sakaki is planning a walk of courage. However, half way in, Sakurai reveals that he hates scary things. Maybe, he shouldn’t have said that in front of Uzaki who steals his phone and runs off into the night.

What did you think?
Woohoo! It’s the beach episode. This is one of my favourite tropes in all and every genre so it’s always nice when a show delivers. We had all the usual other tropes too such as bikinis, melon splitting, bikinis, barbecues, walks of courage, and bikinis. Just brilliant. Of course, we got to have a few laughs as well. Ami’s face when she saw Uzaki changing was priceless. I also loved how Ami and Sakaki had to look away when a blindfolded Sakurai accidentally grabbed Uzaki, but it was how he made the same comment as when it happened in the first episode while they were testing the VR. A jellyfish… really, Sakurai!
Then, things stepped up a notch as Uzaki ran a terrified Sakurai through the woods a night. While that went on, I loved the conversation between Sakaki and Ami. It’s clear that both of them love Sakurai and Uzaki and want nothing but happiness for them. It would appear that they are even willing to forgo their own happiness to make it happen. And finally, Sakurai hugging Uzaki in his sleep was great. It felt like the first steps towards something more than just friends. I love this series.
