Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! (Episode 7) – I Want to Hang Out at a Cat Café and a Pub!

Uzaki received a call from Sakurai saying he needed her to be with him. She hurries over and discovers he needs her to go to a cat cafe. Good luck her birthday is coming up so he can make it up to her somehow!

What happened?

Uzaki couldn’t believe it. He called her up and told her he needed her to be with him. This is quite a shocking statement from a gloomlord like Sakurai. Still, she’s not going to miss the chance to see what he has to say. Of course, he had no idea what he was saying as he just needed her to go to the cat cafe with him. He was too scared to go in on his own. She goes in and reminds him how to interact with the cats. He’s delighted and offers to make it up to her. Luckily, Uzaki already has an idea. It’s going to be her twentieth birthday and she wants Sakurai to take her drinking. However, he didn’t hear her as his legs had gone numb.

Disappointed once more, Uzaki decides to make the most of it and starts to poke Sakurai’s soles with her toe, which gets them thrown out of the cat cafe. Still, he needs to thank her, so she reminds him about her birthday, but omits the stuff about the pub. Desperate to get it right, Sakurai goes to Ami and Akihiko for advice. They are delighted with this piece of information and can read the situation far better than Sakurai. Of course, they leave it up to him, telling him to go with his gut.

It’s the day of Uzaki’s birthday and Sakurai is still undecided about what to get her. Luckily, Uzaki calls, saving him from making a decision. However, she tells him that she needs him to be with her… When he finds her, she’s outside a pub and ready to make him pay for her first drinking session. This could get messy!

What did you think?

Firstly, I loved the way Uzaki used the same phrase Sakurai did when she called him, no doubt trying to tease him and make him realise what he said to her. Of course, he’s clueless, but it was funny. As was Ami and Akihiko’s reactions to Sakurai’s troubles. I love the way they pretend to scoop rice out of imaginary bowls as they enjoy the delight that is Sakurai and Uzaki. The stuff at the cat cafe was most definitely creepy, especially when Uzaki started to tease Sakurai by poking his foot. I had to laugh when the staff member told them to keep it at home.

Then, we had the pub! The mindset of the first-time drinker is a bizarrely wonderful thing. Admittedly, Sakurai should have done more to prepare her, but then it wouldn’t have been as funny. I did like the idea that Uzaki had planned the entire thing to sleep at his house, although I’m not sure what that was to achieve, especially as neither has realised they have feelings for the other, at least not in a real sense. I think they both might have an inkling of an idea, but it’s a long way off from becoming a real thought. It was a fun episode, but definitely not the funniest one.
