Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! (Episode 10) – I Want to Hang Out in Tottori!

As Uzaki and Sakurai try to work out what they’re going to do in Tottori, they are picked up by Sakaki and Ami who just happened to be there. How about a little tour of Tottori with no ulterior motive whatsoever?
Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! (Episode 10) – I Want to Hang Out in Tottori!
What happened?
There is so much to see and do in Tottori, how will they possibly decide? Well, luckily, Sakaki and Ami are ready to take them on a tour. They even seem to have acquired a guide to help them see the sights. First off, the beach and the famous sand dunes. It’s a truly beautiful and inspiring sight so naturally, Uzaki and Sakurai need to race to the sea. Uzaki even tried to cheat, but it was not to be. Sakurai won… well, he thought he did, but it might have been Sakaki and Ami!
Next, they went to a museum full of figurines as Tottori is the home to several notable mangakas. Uzaki forced Sakurai to buy her some to remember their trip. After that, they saw the white rabbit of Tottori and visited a shrine. It’s been a while since they competed for anything so they decided to see who would get the best luck. Sakurai got middling, but Uzaki got great. Then, she read her fortune and it told her that she would meet a gamer, preferably a loner and one year older… hang on! Just what kind of place is this?
That’s right, Tottori is also a Mecca for couples in love and Sakaki points out that is how everyone has seen Sakurai and Uzaki. However, they’re determined not to be pigeonholed and turn everything into a competition. How romantic? Anyhow, the steam baths are next and then a dip in the hot spring. At the end of it, nothing seems to have changed except Ami is content and Sakaki realises that things are fine the way they are. After all, Sakurai and Uzaki did just rub a statue of a frog that will bring them true love.

What did you think?
This episode felt like an advert for Tottori and it was a pretty good one. It definitely seems like somewhere I’d like to visit when I get the chance to go to Japan. Anyhow, it was also very funny. I loved that couple that kept popping up everywhere doing their love heart with their arms, especially when Sakurai was losing it and there they were in the background. That said, it was very much a one-gag episode and it just kept going and going. It was good, but not one of the strongest episodes.
At some point, I’m imagining that Uzaki is going to start to take Sakurai’s determined rebuttal of anything romantic personally. There are only so many times he can protest so strongly before she starts to wonder why he’s so against it. After all, what’s wrong with Uzaki? Other than the need to put him down at every available opportunity, but then she does that with love… at least, that’s what I keep telling myself. There are two episodes left and there’s got to be some sort of advancement. Something to take us into season two. Also, how stunning was that beach?
