Chio’s School Road (Saturday Spin-off) – Chio’s Daily Commute

It feels like forever since Chio’s School Road came out. I wonder what she’s doing now? Maybe, she’s got a job and has her life in order… maybe, but that commute can be hard! Nothing ever happens on the commute…

What’s going on?

It may look like I’m just posting random reviews but there is a method to my madness. Yesterday, I published my season review of Chio’s School Road from the Summer 2018 season. Originally, I had no plan on watching it, but a single image on Twitter changed that and I can’t tell you how glad I am that I’ve seen it. Anyhow, this is about something a little different. In this post, I’m going to come up with an idea for a spin-off. Admittedly, this one may feel like a sequel, although it’s far enough into the future that I think it’s fine.

What’s the pitch?

It’s been a year since Chio graduated university and at last, she’s managed to find herself a job. Since graduating, she’s been living with her parents and overindulging in her gaming. It didn’t look like anything was going to happen on its own, so her father pulled some strings and now she has a job. It’s actually a pretty good one and it’s close enough to home that she can walk there and back.

Unfortunately, Chio oversleeps on her first day and is in a hurry to get to work on time. With the busy hustle of bodies all rushing to work, Chio is getting no where fast. In a moment of madness or clarity, I’ll let you decide, she climbs up a drain pipe and takes to the rooftops. If nothing else her gaming has prepared her to look for ingenious ways to solve problems. She might have made it to work on time today, but tomorrow is another day!

Where did the inspiration come from?

I’ve done my fair share of commuting. It’s been a real mix too. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to walk to work and also had a commute that was an hour in the car. Occasionally, I’ll notice something odd on my way into work and a story will start to form. Well, this is the story about that story. Chio will do everything she can to get to work on time, especially as her father got her the job and it would look bad on him, although she’s not about to give up her late night gaming. So, much like the original series, this one would follow Chio as she walks to work each day. There will be blasts from the past, unlikely competitions, and unusual rivalries. I think this could be a lot of fun.
