I’m a Behemoth, an S-Ranked Monster, but Mistaken for a Cat, I Live as an Elf Girl’s Pet (Volume 4) – Is the Cat Finally Out of the Bag?
What happened?
Unsure how to react, Tama ran. However, the woman gave chase and she was incredibly quick. Luckily, Tama managed to lose her and made it back to Aria’s bed before she woke up. The next morning, they went to see Vulcan for some upgraded equipment thanks to the rewards for defeating the demon and the trolls. That enabled them to get some lighter and more durable equipment, perfect for Aria’s fast fighting style. It had been a while since they had been to the labyrinth, but Aria was keen to get back to it after her time recovering from the poison. Well, they had nothing to worry about as Tama had a new skill that buffed the party. Aria didn’t even need to use Accelerate to quickly decapitate a goblin. With things going well, they continued to the next level. That was when they saw a strange girl. Tama recognised her from the night before.
However, this time, she appeared to be terrified and confused. Aria took pity on her and took her back to the inn and rented a bigger room so that she could look after her. She appeared to have no memories and even didn’t know her name. So, Aria named her Stella. They bathed and had dinner, which was the most incredible thing Stella had ever done. Then, once Aria was asleep, Tama woke with a strange voice in his head. Stella revealed that she was the reincarnation of the Earth Dragon. Tama was worried that she would reveal that he was a behemoth, but she had no intention of doing that or seeking revenge. If anything, she was grateful to have found a suitable male to breed with… Anyhow, they came to an agreement with Stella deciding to become an adventurer and helping them defeat the labyrinth. In time, she was certain that she would make Tama fall for her.

What did you think?
All right, I already love Stella, even with her desire to mate with Tama… I think she’s the perfect compliment to their party with Aria coming across as so gentle and kind and Vulcan being more knowledgable and strategic. Stella brings the boom. She’s like an unstoppable tank that gives out more damage than she could ever take. Seeing her smash monsters into oblivion with her shield was hilarious. I almost felt sorry for them. It was interesting to see the Ropers cause her so much trouble, but completely understandable when you consider that she doesn’t understand a lot of what she’s being exposed to. I love the conversations she has with Tama through telepathy as that gives Tama a chance to talk rather than everything being very one-sided from him.
This volume ended with Tama using his tentacle skill that he got from the Ropers which ended up producing a number of tentacles that were more like his tail. He used them to get Aria and Vulcan to safety and then to hold the Roper so he could kill it. The big problem with that approach was that Aria quite liked the furry tentacles and was determined to have Tama use them on her again. In fact, the impact was so great that she went into heat, something that Vulcan noticed and was instantly worried about. Things are about to get a little crazy!

What was your highlight?
The introduction of Stella opens this story up. For a while, it was very one-sided with Aria talking to Tama, but only we could see what he thought. It was fine for a while, but I think it could have become quite difficult to maintain without it getting boring. To make anything happen, they would need to have Aria almost guess what was going on and that’s just lazy. So, bringing Stella into the story and giving her the power of telepathy makes perfect sense. It gives her a secret to hold onto and allows Tama to communicate with someone. I’m sure there will come a time when it becomes vital to the story too, but even without that, it makes things far more interesting.
The one thing that I think this story is really missing now, is some sort of driving force. At the moment, they all have their own reasons for doing what they do, but I feel like there needs to be something hanging over them that they need to defeat in order to move forward otherwise, this will turn into them just picking up random quests here and there. That’s fine to get things started, but I would love to see something that they have to fight for. Something that will push them to become the best they can possibly be. I think the addition of Stella is a step in the right direction. Now, we need something for them to push against.
