Favourite Comedy Anime (30 Days of Anime – Years 1 to 5) – Day 24

There’s nothing quite like a good laugh to lift your spirits, which is why I’m always on the lookout for an anime that will really make me laugh. I don’t mean a couple of funny moments. I want to be laughing the entire time.
Favourite Comedy Anime (30 Days of Anime – Years 1 to 5) – Day 24
Comedy is such a personal thing. Something that I find funny might offend someone else and vice-versa. So, I’ll apologise in advance if that’s the case here… even if I’m not really that sorry. You can also tell a lot about someone by what they find funny and it’s often a good way to gauge how similar your tastes are since there’s usually a similar starting point for the types of jokes you find funny. Anyhow, this is the twenty-fourth day of my 30 Days of Anime challenge which means we’re closing in on the end. Let’s worry about that later and get on with the comedy!
Year 1 – Super HxEros (Season One)
I’m not going to lie, there’s going to be some ecchi on this list as sexy comedies are one of my favourite subgenres. So, what better way to start things off than with Super HxEros – an anime where the heroes use erotic energy to fight aliens intent on stealing all of the Earth’s erotic energy for themselves? This series was hilarious. I loved the way the main characters were constantly thrown into awkward situations, especially since they were all selected to fight the aliens because of their vast stores of erotic energy. This premise is ridiculous but that seems to work for shows like this. I really need to go back and rewatch this one, especially as I only did a season review!

Year 2 – KonoSuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world! (Season One)
I love KonoSuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world! Love it, love it, love it. I love the characters, I love the world, and I love the story. Oh sure, it does seem like there isn’t much of a story and it’s just about following Kazuma, Aqua, Darkness, and Megumin as they goofy around and generally get themselves into trouble. That is absolutely true, but there is a lot more to this series than it seems. For example, everything that happens to them is a direct result of something one of them did at some point in the past. One of my favourites is the fact that Aqua is responsible for most of the world’s problems because of the magical items she handed out. Anyone for a cabbage hunt?

Year 3 – Heaven’s Lost Property (Season Two) Forte
Season one of Heaven’s Lost Property lost out to KonoSuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world! so season two needed to pick up the mantle for year three and it was absolutely deserved. Despite season one having one of the funniest episodes ever – the exploding panties one, season two gave us some unbelievable moments too. The best of them was the wrestling festival that introduced us to Mask du Pants. That is just an incredible episode of anime, or anything for that matter. I love the surreal and sometimes tasteless humour of Heaven’s Lost Property. Go on, you’ll probably love it!

Year 4 – My Girlfriend is Shobitch (Season One)
Do you like lewd humour? How about innuendos? Personally, I love them and that’s what makes My Girlfriend is Shobitch so special. There were times that I almost had to pause the show to make sure that I heard things correctly. This is a masterclass in being rude and funny at the same time, while also delivering a sweet and enduring love story. There’s not as much fan service in this one as it focuses much more on the saucy dialogue. I’d seen this one popping up on my feed for ages before watching it. Don’t make the same mistake. If you see it, watch it, you won’t regret it.

Year 5 – Gushing over Magical Girls (Season One)
Gushing over Magical Girls is hilarious. I loved the way we followed the villains in this series and how much Magia Baser got into her role as the domineering evil mastermind. The obligatory cute magical girl familiar, Venalita who was wicked, cunning, and so funny also made for some great moments. Basically, this series made fun of everything magical girl while having a great time too. I loved the episode where Magia Magenta was turned into a giant to fight a Godzilla-like monster while the other fought in her clothes, all ending up in her panties. It was wildly surreal, but oh so much fun! I hope we get a second season soon!

Final Thoughts!
So this post almost turned into my Favourite Ecchi Anime – part two… and that’s fine with me. I love all of these shows, and I can watch them over and over again, but I still find them funny. You know you’ve got a winner when the same joke works each time you see it. I do enjoy the shock comedy from time to time, but they don’t do so well on a repeat viewing. Anyhow, this was a blast.
Since this post ended up being another five ecchi anime titles, it makes perfect sense if tomorrow continues that trend as I look at my Favourite Harem Anime. I’d say that this is one of my guilty pleasures if I felt anything that resembled guilt. Things are about to get messy! Thanks for visiting.
Other Posts in the Series
30 Days of Anime (Years 1 to 5)

Two anime that make me laugh is Ranma 1/2 and Himouto! Umaru-chan.
I’ve not seen either but heard of both. I’ll be adding them to the list since I definitely need more humour in my life right now.
My favorite will always be My Wife is a Mermaid. I heard that Grand Blue is also good but I haven’t watched it in it’s entirety; just clips on YouTube. I better start on that soon.
I’ve not seen these either but the Mermaid one looks like it would be funny.
