Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead (Volume 2) – Flight Attendant of the Dead
What happened?
When Kencho added becoming a comedian to the bucket list, he decided that he would join Akira on his quest to complete them all. After all, he would have died in a love hotel had not been for Akira. There were some on there that seemed a little unlikely, but Akira was determined to live the life he wished he had. The first thing they were going to do was get a big widescreen TV as the little one in Akira’s apartment wasn’t much good. On their way, they took a detour to avoid an explosion and ended up trapped in a department store with some other survivors.
There was plenty of food and drink so they at least could do that. Then, they discovered that the other survivors were flight attendants. They were actually wining and dining with flight attendants. Kencho and Akira couldn’t believe it. Of course, the mood was dire, so Akira tried to lighten it up by snorting tequila. That got the party started. However, one of the survivors had been bitten and it wasn’t long before Akira and Kencho flee the department store with a new TV, however, they were the only ones to escape.
Akira added a new item to the list – remember what his childhood dream was. Well, it turned out he wanted to be a superhero so that was what he would try next. They went to the aquarium and collected a shark-proof diving suit that would stop the zombie’s bites from breaking his skin. There was also a group of survivors on the run so he had a chance to put his skills to the test immediately. He got them all inside, but there was something far worse waiting for them. Somehow a zombified shark was moving around thanks to the diver it had consumed. To make things more interesting, the girl from the convenience store was there too.

What did you think?
The thing I loved about volume one was how it mirrored many of my thoughts and beliefs about the daily nine-to-five grind. It was hilarious and really connected with me. This volume didn’t follow quite the same plan as the first one. There were two main segments. The first was the one with the flight attendants and while that had some funny moments, it really was quite the depressing section. The moment that the flight attendant that had been talking to Akira was bitten was definitely a real bummer. It was beautifully done, but I wasn’t expecting to be hit so hard.
The second section focused on Akira’s attempts to fulfil his childhood dream to become a superhero. Now, that was funny and brilliantly ridiculous. The shark moving around with zombies inside was insane. I can’t see a way that it could possibly work, but I’m glad it was there. It gave Akira a chance to step up, cross an item off his bucket list, and get a tiny bit closer to Shizuka. Of course, she’s not sticking around, but I doubt it’ll be the last we’ve heard of her. This is an excellent series which isn’t afraid to make you laugh and leave you lost for words.
