Momo Kyun Sword (Episode 10) – Shocking! Onigashima’s Counter Attack!!

Kaguya has activated the 300 Peach Core and it is calling all the fragments to Demon Island. Momoko hurries to stop it, but first, she needs to see her grandparents. She needs to tell them that she knows everything.

What happened?

Momoko and the Celestial Maiden Squad are still down after losing the 3000 Peach Core to the Oni. Suddenly, Toutetsu appears and asks them to come to see Abe no Seimei. They’re surprised to see Toutetsu alone so it must be serious. Of course, it is. Seimei reveals that they had done a deal with a scientist from the moon to harness the power of the 3000 Peach so that they could stand face to face with the demons and the heavens. He then tells them that Kaguya has defected to the Oni. They must stop her before it’s too late.

It may already be too late! The peach fragments all fly away, rejoining with the core on Demon Island. Momoko and the Celestial Maiden Squad follow the fragments, but then they fly over Momoko’s village. She asks to be put down for a moment. She needs to clear her head before the fight by telling her grandparents that she knows who she is. Turns out they already knew too! Anyhow, it’s back to attacking Demon Island which is now floating in the sky and attacking the Heavens. Should be easy!

What did you think?

This episode was definitely all about setting up the final confrontation. The question was who would it be between and it’s looking like it’ll be Momoko and Jakiou which is a shame. I was hoping that the humans would emerge as the main villain and that the demons were just misunderstood. Oh well. Maybe next time. I also had to laugh at all the odd decisions such as putting Momoko down nowhere near her house and letting her run there when they were in a hurry. Fly her there! They also attacked the Demon Castle by flying to the main gate. Couldn’t they have bypassed a lot of the castle and the Oni by… I don’t know, flying maybe!

Anyhow, dubious decisions aside it was a good episode and has set things up for a pretty nice showdown over the next two episodes. I wonder what part Onihime will play in this and what’s the story between Sumeragi Tennyo and Jakiou? There’s got to be more to it than we’re seeing. So far, it’s been a fairly average show with some great moments. Can the ending elevate it to a much higher level? Only time will tell!
