The Otaku Author Journey January 9 2023 a

Last week might have been the first real week of the New Year, but I was on vacation so it doesn’t count. I’ve got so much planned and I’m excited to see just how much I can get through My year starts now!

Hot Topic

In the second half of 2022, I started work on a new dimension for the Otaku Author. Last week, you would have seen the fruits of that work starting to appear. That’s right, I’ve started reviewing manga too. At present, I have four books a week scheduled for the foreseeable future. Most of the series that I’m looking at are still ongoing so who knows when it will end. Regardless, I have a whole lot of stories to discuss and analyse. It’s been a lot of fun so far and I’m sure it’ll continue. I’ve been able to really mix it up too so you can expect a wild variety of genres and styles.

What have I been watching/reading?

This week I finished watching World’s End Harem and was quite surprised by it, especially from a science fiction point of view and not the obvious Ecchi elements. I’m already looking for a way to fit a full analysis into my schedule because I think that side of the story deserves some attention too.

Work in Progress

As I was still on vacation last week, I have nothing to report here, although I did enjoy my break. I am excited to get back to work and found some things at my parents house that have definitely sparked my imagination. This year is going to be busy but also exciting.

The Plan

So, you may have noticed that I increased the posting frequency on the Otaku Author, adding in a full morning schedule, a full evening schedule, and my midday manga posts. On top of that, I found my old VHS anime collection at my parent’s house and feel like I need to revisit them. Of course, I don’t have a VHS player so I’ll be looking for digital versions. It’s going to take a while, but I hope to track them all down.

This area still needs an overhaul and it’s going to be my first thing I tackle once I’m home, which should be later today.

Final Thoughts

I do love vacations but I also love my routine. It’s always hard when I feel like I’m not being productive, not pushing myself to do more, but sometimes we need to take a break. If nothing else, it should remind us about how we feel about things. This one has confirmed that I need to be writing regularly and that this site is a huge part of my life. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with my 2023 schedule. Let’s make it an unforgettable year.

Anyhow, stay safe and thanks for reading.

  1. “I do love vacations but I also love my routine.”

Seconded. I recently listened to Stephen King’s _On Writing_, and he said he even writes most holidays. And guess what I did Christmas morning, around the festivities? I actually wrote 3,449 words. At this point in my life, writing isn’t a chore. It’s my way of life, whether I like it or not.

    • Yeah. It was like that for me a couple years back until blogging took over. This year I’m finally going to find that balance. Also, if I’m home, I’m writing on Christmas Day every time.

What did you think?
