Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers- (Episode 11) – Counterattack
What happened?
Nashentania stands before Adlet and thanks him for showing her how much fun the world can be. Then, she demands that he repent before he dies. However, when Mora points out that it isn’t necessary, Nashentania unleashes her blades. Fremy manages to deflect them with an explosion which gives them a brief moment to escape. To bad that Goldov in on them in a flash. Fremy shoots, knocking him back. She tells Adlet to run and that she’ll hold off Goldov and Mora. He wants to stay and protect her but realises that he can’t do that here. Not when everyone is determined to kill him. He needs to show them the truth.
Adlet races through the forest to the temple in search of Hans and Chamo, however, they’re not there. Nashentania catches up to him quickly and then launches more blades in his direction. They take to the forest once more, but he can’t outrun her blades. One bites into his side, forcing him to drop to the ground. She closes in for the kill which is when he realises that the temperature has gotten very cold. Suddenly, everything starts to make sense. He kicks Nashentania away and runs, pursued by Goldov. They end up in the clearing where they first fought the Fiends. Hans and Chamo show up revealing that Mora lied. That gives Adlet the chance to explain everything he’s worked out. However, he can only hope there’s something that will support his theory
What did you think?
All right, I love the way that this series has used science to explain the sudden appearance of the fog. That’s a nice touch, especially as there’s been a lot of seeding of these ideas throughout the season. Everything makes sense… however, Adlet was reliant on Hans and Chamo showing up at the clearing, but it was only moments ago that he realised that the fog had been created by heating up the area. There was no way for them to have coordinated this part of the reveal, so it doesn’t quite hold up. I think Adlet should have made the connection sooner and then had to deal with a crazed Nashentania, stopping him from revealing everything.
I’m a little confused about how no one has instantly turned on Mora after it was revealed that she lied about Hans and was determined to see Adlet killed. Of course, I know who it is as this is my second time seeing it and so far, I’ve actually been a little disappointed about the way that person has been behaving. I thought that I would see things that could be taken in multiple ways so that it would be completely obvious in retrospect, but ambiguous at best the first time watching. It’s going to be interesting to see the reveal again and see if that changes my mind. I still love this series, but I was expecting it to be a little cleverer with this aspect of the story. Maybe, I missed something. Well, we’ll see soon enough!
