Tanjiro faced off against two powerful demons. He later learned that they weren’t even part of the Twelve Demon Moons. Just how strong are those demons? Anyhow, Tanjiro soon finds himself on another mission with other Demon Slayers!

What happened?

Even with the ability to see the Arrow Demon’s arrows, Tanjiro struggled to avoid them. Even a touch from his sword sent him hurtling in whatever direction the arrow dictated. After some near-misses, which included his arm almost being twisted off his body, he put together some Water Techniques and was able to use the force of the arrows to speed up his attack to the point that the demon couldn’t evade him. However, as it died, it attacked Tanjiro with a barrage of arrows that left Tanjiro broken and bruised, but amazingly, he survived.

Meanwhile, Nezuko and Lady Tamayo were able to defeat the Temari Demon by tricking her into mentioning Muzan Kibutsuji’s name. That activated a curse that caused his blood to rip her apart. Tanjiro and Nezuko decided to continue together while Lady Tamayo and Yushiro went into hiding again. Lady Tamayo asked Tanjiro to help her with her studies by collecting demon blood. He agreed and soon received his next orders from his crow. On the way to the next location, he ran into another Demon Slayer and he was making a frightful scene.

What did you think?

Well, that’s yet another arc that we’ve blown through at incredible speed. I remembered watching the anime episodes of this part of the story and loved Susamaru, the Temari Demon so much that I came up with an idea of how her back story might go. However, in the manga, she was dull and lifeless. In fact, that seems to be a fairly consistent problem in my opinion. I don’t know if that was why Zenitsu was introduced, but I think it’s what you might call overcompensating and it didn’t work.

I tried to defend Zenitsu for the manga fans with the reasoning that a page of someone screaming and crying was far less annoying than an entire episode or several. Well, I take that back. He was just as annoying in the manga and there is no sound. I mentioned the lack of a wow factor with this series and that continues. At no point did it make me want to sit up and take notes. If anything, I felt like we were just rushing through the story and the action. I was hoping that the manga would give me more information and details that were left out of the anime, but that just isn’t the case.

At the moment, I am working my way through seventy-two series so I feel like I have a good feel for what grabs my attention and makes me want to continue reading. If it gets really good, I switch everything to the one series and plough through the whole thing. That’s not happened with Demon Slayer. If anything, it’s falling down the list of priorities. I’ll probably finish it, but I’m not going to hurry.
