Citrus+ (Volume 2) – This Time, We Handle it Together!

Mei and Yuzu’s relationship is still moving slowly. A little too slowly for Matsuri who doesn’t want Yuzu to miss out on all the good stuff… Meanwhile, a first-year is gunning for Mei because of the new relaxed rules!
Citrus+ (Volume 2) – This Time, We Handle it Together!
What happened?
Yuzu would like Mei to try to be more affectionate with her, although she’s not going to pressure her into anything. Just saying “I love you” once a day is more than enough for now. Well, not for Matsuri who seems to think that they are missing out on some of the best years of their relationship. Of course, Mei is concerned about appearances and she’s far more reserved than Yuzu. She’s also got some problems of her own. Since she’s relaxed the rules on dress code and similar antiquated policies, one student has taken it upon herself to return things to normal.
Sayaka is a first-year and a new member of the student council. She’s also not afraid to question Mei and does so with the new dress code policy. Mei tells her that she is exactly why they’ve had to make changes. People need to discover themselves in school and not become another angry clone. That’s not good enough for Sayaka. She decides that Yuzu and the rumours flying around about their relationship might be the way to go. However, when she confronts Yuzu, Matsuri intervenes and makes things worse, especially when Sayaka accidentally punches Yuzu in the face. In order to resolve things, Mei orders Sayaka to meet with Yuzu. She believes they have some things to discuss.

What did you think?
While I don’t agree with Matsuri’s methods, I do think Mei is taking things a little too slow. It’s not like she hasn’t been quite forward in the past either so she certainly has it in her. So, what’s the hold-up? Why can’t she be a little more open with Yuzu? I understand that she would want to keep things cool at school where she has a reputation to keep up. However, at home, there’s no reason to be that way. Anyhow, that’s just my thoughts on their relationship…
As for the story, it was nice to see Yuzu’s methods come out on top once more. Matsuri was trying to protect her, but that just made things worse because, in general, that’s what Matsuri does. Yuzu, however, is a more calming influence and I liked how she got through to Sayaka and allowed her to realise her relationship with Miyabi meant more to her than she first thought. Sayaka was also struggling to accept that she liked Miyabi that way. It must be hard to accept something about yourself that others have said is wrong. I’m glad Yuzu could help her realise what she wanted.
