Citrus (Episode 7) – love or lie!

What happened?

Mei is tutoring Yuzu for an upcoming exam. If she can score in the top one hundred, their grandfather might not look down on her so much. However, Yuzu is distracted by that kiss. She needs to know what it meant to Mei. Unfortunately, Mei says it meant nothing. Now, get back to studying. That’s not what Yuzu was expecting, but Mei is probably right. Things could get really complicated.

After school, Yuzu and Harumi went to the arcade to blow off some steam, although all Yuzu could think about was how Mei blew her off. Of course, Harumi isn’t quite sure what Yuzu is talking about, but she tries to reassure her. Maybe, Yuzu needs to be more like that girl playing The House of the Dead two-handed. Hang on! Yuzu thinks she knows that girl, and she does. It’s Matsuri, her childhood friend. She was like a little sister to her. Unfortunately, Matsuri is a bit of a wild one. She’s been sending naughty pictures to a guy online for money. They’re not pictures of her, but that doesn’t make it right.

Matsuri seems to be a little too interested in Yuzu’s life and thinks she may have stumbled upon something interesting. Harumi has a bad feeling about Matsuri and tries to warn Yuzu, however, she got a message from her older sister and has to leave suddenly. As Yuzu walks Matsuri to the station to say farewell, Matsuri spots Mei walking towards them. She kisses Yuzu and stops her from noticing Mei who walks past them. This was just the beginning of Matsuri’s meddling.

What did you think?

When this arc started in the manga, I felt like it was a little repetitive as it was basically the Momokino arc but with Yuzu’s childhood friend instead of Mei’s and I still feel that way. It doesn’t help that Matsuri comes across as a massive jerk. And once more, I doubt there will be enough episodes to really explore her dynamic with Yuzu and how she ultimately comes to be a tremendous ally. Of course, at this point, she is just interested in entertaining herself and doesn’t care who she steps on to do that.

The biggest moment in this episode was the announcement that Harumi’s sister was returning. If I was to guess, I think that’ll be the arc that ends this season and it’s probably the best place for them to do it, however, it still leaves a lot of things in the air that the manga will obviously get through. If you are interested in knowing more, jump over to my manga reviews. This is a good series, but the manga was incredible. I loved the ending and I’m sad that it’s unlikely the anime will get that far. I’ll just have to wait and see!
