What happened?

Nina was prepared to use force to keep Yuzu from getting in Sara’s way. She revealed that Sara always thinks of others before herself and would step aside if she knew that Yuzu loved Mei. Of course, she had already worked it out and called Yuzu, asking to meet. Nina went with her and discovered that Mei was no longer there. Sara asked Yuzu if she was prepared to receive the answer regardless of whether it was what she wanted or not. Yuzu was determined to say her piece. Sara sent her in Mei’s direction and then revealed to Nina that she believed destiny meant for her to bring them together.

Yuzu ran across town and made her way to the shrine where she would find Mei. However, when she finally caught up with her, Mei didn’t want to talk and started to run away. Yuzu raced after her, telling her about how she made her feel. She was confused as one minute Mei would push her down and kiss her, the next she was clingy and possessive, and then she would be mad at her and not want anything to do with her. Despite all this, Yuzu loved her. She was in love with her. Mei was stunned when she heard Yuzu say it. Mei accepted her love by kissing her with her stuffed bear, however, Yuzu wanted a real kiss, and she got one.

They met up with Sara and Nina once more to apologise for all the trouble they had caused them. Sara wanted to talk to Mei alone and told her that she could afford to be more selfish. She also told Mei that if she wanted to apologise to her all she had to do was hold Yuzu’s hand. On the way home, as Mei held Yuzu’s hand, Yuzu asked Mei if that kiss meant that she loved her too. Mei wasn’t quite ready to say it, but instead suggested they try dating first. Yuzu couldn’t believe it. She stepped in front of Mei and kissed her once more.

What did you think?

In retrospect, this was obviously the place to end the first season. The earlier mention of Harumi’s sister made me think we would get that far but as good as that arc would have been to end it, this is the one that it needed to be. So, Yuzu and Mei are dating. Finally! There were a lot of things holding them back, most notably Mei’s inability to truly express emotions and Yuzu’s need to make everyone happy, even at her own expense. I love this story and am so happy that I was able to make the time to watch it and read the manga.

Talking of the manga, this brings us to the fourth volume and there are six more. A second season wouldn’t be impossible, although it is probably quite unlikely. So, if you get the chance, please go read the manga. Volume ten is my favourite in the entire series. It’s far more satisfying that anything we’ve seen so far. Of course, you could just check out my reviews of the manga, but I’d rather you read it first. Then, we might have something to talk about. This is a great series.
