Citrus (Episode 4) – love me do!

After what happened in the chairman’s office, Yuzu is afraid to go home so she stays with Harumi. Back at school, the vice president has some questions for Yuzu and she’s not taking no for an answer.
Citrus (Episode 4) – love me do!
What happened?
Yuzu still can’t believe she revealed her feelings to Mei. She’s not even sure what she meant by it, but it certainly felt very real. As such, she can’t go home and face Mei. Not yet, anyhow. Luckily, Harumi is willing to let her stay over. Even at school, Yuzu is finding it hard to talk to Mei, let alone look at her. Then, the vice president, Momokino storms in and demands to talk to Yuzu. Yuzu can’t handle it and runs, but eventually gives up once they are away from everyone.
Momokino wants to know what happened between Yuzu and Mei in the chairman’s office. Yuzu agrees to tell her, but not here. They agree to meet up on the weekend to talk further. Yuzu finds Momokino in a fancy cafe where they can talk in private. Momokino wants to understand what their relationship is. How does Yuzu know the president? Yuzu isn’t sure how to answer so she asks if Mei has been acting strangely lately. Momokino tells her she’s been distraught. Almost as much as when her father left her.
Yuzu can’t believe she’s putting Mei through that and leaves abruptly. Momokino runs after her still wanting answers. Amazingly, they bump into Mei who asks Yuzu why she hasn’t come home, further confusing Momokino. Then, Mei tells Momokino that they are sisters. At home, Yuzu tries to apologise for what she did, although Mei feels responsible for pushing her into it. They make up with a kiss, their first truly consensual kiss. However, Momokino is not happy about Yuzu getting in her way. Mei is all hers!

What did you think?
Well, it wouldn’t be a romance without a rival. Of course, Momokino is not coming off as a particularly nice person in this episode. I can understand that she feels like she’s about to be relegated to the childhood friend position and that’s not where she wants to be. However, I don’t like the way she taunts and lies to Yuzu, not to mention how she forced herself on Mei. There seems to be a lot of that going around so it was nice to see Yuzu and Mei actually kiss, especially as it put a line in the sand from which they can move forward.
Of course, that was before Momokino told Yuzu that she did stuff with Mei that they had never done before. That could literally be anything, but Mei being Mei, she failed to dismiss it as what it was. Instead, she got defensive and pushed Yuzu away again. It is frustrating watching them sabotaging their relationship like this, but it is absolutely worth it in the long run, and by that I mean the manga. There’s going to be at least one more episode dealing with this situation. There will either be some considerable condensing of the story or we’re going to end nowhere near the actual ending, which is my favourite part of the manga.
