Citrus (Episode 3) – sisterly love?

Yuzu is determined to fix things and there’s one person that can help – the chairman. However, when Yuzu finds him, he’s on the floor of his office having a heart attack. Turns out he’s the one that needs her help!
Citrus (Episode 3) – sisterly love?
What happened?
Yuzu hadn’t told her mother that she had been expelled and hadn’t been able to convince Mei to move back home with them. It was all getting too much for her to handle, but she needed to keep trying. After a pep talk with Harumi, she decided to track down her grandfather, the Chairman and straighten some things out. He was at the school after hours so Yuzu climbed the fence and barged into his office. She found him lying on the floor, clutching his chest.
Mei arrived at the hospital and found her grandfather sleeping. The nurse told her that a blonde girl had been with him since he arrived and had been incredibly helpful. She was the one that told them to contact his granddaughter. Mei thanked Yuzu and referred to them as family. After the chairman had woken up, he rescinded Yuzu’s expulsion and apologised for being so prideful. Mei even decided to move home, but she did it because it was her father’s home anyhow and no other reason.
Yuzu came home from school late after gaming with Harumi to discover that her mother had bought them a new bed. It was huge. Big enough for both of them… Yuzu didn’t know how to handle the news and was shocked to see that Mei was so calm. During the night, Yuzu turned to Mei and just as she reached for her Mei turned over and asked her what she was doing. Mei decided to sleep on the floor because of Yuzu’s restlessness. Yuzu wanted to know why Mei kissed her. She said it was the only way to shut Yuzu up!

What did you think?
Love is complicated. Luckily, Yuzu has some fine manga to help guide her… Well, it gave Harumi something to try at least! Anyhow, that book caused some issues as Mei found it when she went through Yuzu’s bag. She said it was on her desk, but that’s obviously not true. Mei really is a hard one to crack because she spends a lot of time lying to herself. Again, I think it’s down to the way she’s expected to behave. This is no doubt made harder as she now sees Yuzu doing whatever she wants. That doesn’t defend her actions or the way she treats Yuzu, but it does offer some insight into her thoughts.
You can really see how it’s impacting Yuzu now too and the scene in the president’s office showed. She pushed Mei onto the desk and kissed her. Mei told her to stop, but then froze when she saw that Yuzu was crying. That was an incredibly powerful moment as Yuzu broke down and let it all out. She told Mei about her frustrations with her and how confused she had become since kissing her. The fact that we’re only really getting to this now has me worried about how this season will end. There’s no way it’s going to cover the whole of the manga and I can’t think of a suitable ending point for this season.
