Jujutsu Kaisen (Episode 13) – Tomorrow
Itadori and Nanami team up to fight Mahito. Individually, they might not be able to take him, but together they could stand a chance. That’s providing he doesn’t have any more tricks hidden up his sleeves!
Jujutsu Kaisen (Episode 13) – Tomorrow
What happened?
Aware that he couldn’t hurt Mahito alone, Nanami decided to put off disciplining Itadori to use him in the fight since he had hurt Mahito. They decided to hit him with everything they have over and over again until they make an opening. It seemed like a good plan, but then Mahito revealed another surprise.
He coughed up three shrunken humans and changed them once more. They rushed towards Itadori and forced him away from the fight with Mahito. He was counting on Itadori being unable to kill other humans, even if they had been changed.
Nanami continued to fight Mahito alone, desperately trying to find an opening. It looked like Mahito was going to win until Itadori burst out of a window and hit him hard. Nanami jumped on the opportunity and they pummelled him over and over again. Mahito was close to death and he knew it.
In a moment of desperation, Mahito was able to create an innate domain, however, he did so by pushing Itadori away and only trapping Nanami. Itadori was desperate to get back in and help Nanami. Nanami, however, realised that he was done for. Mahito would not miss here and he’d never been able to create an innate domain of his own.
Nanami reflected on his past and how he had given up being a Jujutsu sorcerer to follow the money. He didn’t exactly like the job or the service he performed, but money was money. It was a chance encounter with a baker and a curse that had taken up residence on her shoulder that showed him his true calling.
That now appeared to be over. Then the unthinkable happened. Itadori punched his way inside Mahito’s innate domain. It was a crazy move. No one wanted to be inside one, but here was Itadori fighting to get in. Unluckily for Mahito, when Itadori entered his innate domain, he inadvertently touched Sukuna’s soul and he wasn’t too happy about it.
Nanami and Itadori survived as Mahito took damage from Sukuna. They weren’t about to pass up the opportunity and attacked again. Itadori thought that he had done it, but something didn’t feel right. Mahito managed to escape into the sewers where he would recover to fight another day!
What did you think?
And the fight continues. Also, it was excellent. I loved how this pushed Itadori and Nanami to their limits, showing us just how far they can go and then how much further ahead Sukuna is. I liked how absolutely indiscriminate Sukuna is and will attack anyone he sees fit to. He has no allies, everyone is an enemy to him.
I liked that it followed up on the real world message of bullying and how people need to step up and report it when they see it. It’s not always possible to jump in and be a hero, but please don’t just ignore it. I liked that the teacher realised that he too was at fault for what happened to Yoshino and that he was ready to face the consequences once he had done his part in rectifying the situation.
What have you learnt?
So apparently, Yoshino is dead. That makes his appearance in the opening that much more awkward, however, he could still be a curse that follows Itadori around. It’s going to be interesting to see if anything does come of Yoshino. It would be an interesting way to show the guilt that Itadori carries with him for killing those people, even if they were already basically dead.
I’m really getting into this series and I like the way it casually drops like hints at things to come. The one that really caught my eye in this one was Sukuna saying that he didn’t care if any of them died other than Fushiguru. It’s hinted at this before and Fushiguru almost showed us what he’s hiding when fighting Toudou. I am still waiting to find out who Yoshino’s father is though, so it would be nice to get some answers to go with these questions.
