Parallel Paradise (Volume 6) – This is Your Reality Now!
What happened?
Yota had only just returned from his world, thrown out of a window by the mysterious figure who first brought him to this world. Upon returning, his wounds had vanished. He grabbed Rumi’s sword and began to hack at the Cetus. It tried to fight back, but Tia got in between them, deflecting its attack with her weapon which was of the same type. Then, the sun rose as the Cetus transformed back into Kai as she had expended her energy. She demanded that one of the girls offer up their liver so that she could live on, but no one listened.
Kai called to the God of Deep Jealousy in the hopes that it might save her, but her requests went unanswered once more. Within seconds of full sunlight, Kai had turned to dust and scattered into the wind. Then, Yota noticed a small fragment of the crystal Noah had been searching for. It was the missing piece and once Yota gave it to Noah, the crystal began to glow. Noah transformed into a mermaid and was able to swim down and rescue her mother. Reeldole thanked Yota for his help and told him where he should go to find another shrine to the God of Deep Jealousy. One that is still used.
Yota’s next destination was a port town in the northwest called Sandrio. She told him to continue on his mission to save the girls from the misery of this world. Then, she disappeared beneath the waves with her daughter, Noah. Later that day, Yota found himself surrounded by the girls of Reel Town. They were desperate to thank him for freeing them from the monster that had plagued the town for centuries. He tried to dismiss it as nothing, but they were determined to make sure he understood that they appreciated his actions.
That evening, Yota and Rumi were invited to a farewell party. Yota was a little cautious after how the last farewell party had gone, but Rumi was desperate to go, especially as Tia was cooking. They began the meal with mead… Yota was getting worried. Then, after they had begun to eat, Tia crawled on the table and asked Yota to thank her for the meal by mating with her. Yota tried to talk reason into her and even asked for help, but no one was on his side in this instance. The girls jumped on him, leaving him with no option but to entertain their requests.
The next morning, they woke up naked and covered in bodily fluids. It happened again. Luckily, Yota was the first to wake so he was able to slip away before it happened again. Later that day, Yota and Rumi made their way to the port where a ship had been prepared for them along with a crew, Rino and Makana. Tia had prepared them a good breakfast on top of the five days worth of supplies that they had. The trip should only take three days, provided they didn’t encounter any sea monsters…
Unfortunately, they did and it was the one they feared the most – Glacos, a giant octopus that appears when the wind dies down. It broke the sail, giving them no chance to escape when the wind returned. Yota realised it was similar to the Umibozi which is weak to smoke. Yota set the remains of the sail on fire and scared it away. However, now they were left without any way to traverse the waves. The tide took them further out to sea and after eight days they ran out of food. When a squall approached Rino and Makana undressed in the hope of washing their bodies in the rain. Yota took his shirt off and that’s when the real trouble began.
Rino and Makana lost control of their bodies. Their fountains of desire went crazy, leaving Yota with no choice but to mate with them else they die of dehydration. Well, that went on for the next three days… Then Noah appeared and offered to help them to shore, however it was dangerous. She created a hurricane and then dived into the sea. Makana did her best to navigate the waves, but the ship was destroyed and they were all thrown overboard. Rumi woke up in a strange cabin with Rino and Makana. Unfortunately, there was no sight of him. Yota woke in a hospital bed, back in his old world. Then, within seconds the mysterious figure appeared once more. Before it could do anything, he asked it why it was doing this. The figure removed the mask. It was Lilia. She said it was so they could be together forever and then she dropped him out the window once more!
What did you think?
It was another long summary and I still didn’t mention everything that happened. There was Pinako’s sister who had been turned to stone by Kai but recovered when Kai died and the fact that Nishina, Yota’s friend from his world wasn’t there despite falling from the window with him that time. Anyhow, this was another great volume. I had to laugh at the farewell party and am starting to wonder if this will become a repeating occurrence as Yota leaves various places. It was sad to see how Tia and Hanahana reacted to Yota leaving. They seemed to have developed as much of a bond with him as Rumi did, but they couldn’t leave Pinako to look after the town alone.
I also noticed that Rino and Makana both developed the mark on their necks so that means that Lilia and Hanahana are still the only ones who haven’t done so. Of course, the revelation that Lilia was the one who brought Yota to this world to begin with raises all sorts of questions. Firstly, how and why? The real question is how does this tie into the marks on their necks and what does that mean about Hanahana? This series continues to raise more and more questions. It’s a wonderfully complicated mystery and I just hope that it all makes sense at the end. I have faith that it will because of how well it’s been crafted so far, but it’s always a worry.
I also think Noah needs to work on her ways of thanking people. I’m not sure she’s cleared her debt by killing Yota in a hurricane… Hopefully, that just means that she’ll be back again sometime with some actual help. The woman who found Rumi, Rino, and Makama is going to be an interesting character. She seems to be older than the age that girls die in this world, but it could just be the monocle… Anyhow, she will have no doubt noticed the marks on the girls’ necks and if she does know something, it could spell trouble for them.
And then, someone found Yota’s body on the beach, but he’s just about to be sent back to this world so this could get messy for him, especially as there will be no hiding the fact that he’s a male given that he was naked. I think the next volume is going to take an even darker turn.
