Maple Tree has made it to Level Seven which is where NewWorld Online introduces monster taming which will be useful in the next event. Since Maple and Sally already have pets, they decide to help everyone else get one.

What happened?

The guild decides to explore the new level and gather some information before looking to obtain a monster pet. Maple takes Yui and May to search for potential pets. Surprisingly, they come across two small bears and decide to follow. However, none of them has any speed or agility so the bears lose them. Maybe Iz can help them out. She has just the thing. She fits them with some equipment that makes them faster and gives them a potion that will also help. However, she only has two left so Maple volunteers to get the items needed to make it.

Meanwhile, Kasumi went down a few levels to look for new quests and stumbles upon a frog man who gives her a challenge that takes her across three levels and into a secret area where she faces a giant white snake. Yui and May manage to track the bears down and find them being attacked by a tree monster. Maybe, the bears will join them if they save them. Kasumi can’t seem to land a decisive blow on the giant white snake and keeps getting killed. Yui and May are having the same problem but none of them is about to give up.

Maple isn’t about to give up either. While searching for the items, she was pulled to the bottom of the ocean by tentacles. They seemed to go on and on forever, but when they finally stopped, Maple found herself facing a giant octopus. Luckily, it was incredibly tasty so Maple ate it to death, acquiring another new skill which allows her to transform her limbs into tentacles.

What did you think?

This episode was a lot of fun. It was nice that it’s something the other guild members have to do as Maple and Sally already have Syrup and Oboro. Of course, Maple isn’t about to be outdone and finds a random boss to defeat in the most Maple way possible. I loved Sally’s reaction when she saw the tentacles coming out of Maple’s shoulder. It was as if she expected Maple to have tentacles… I enjoyed seeing Yui and May overcoming that tree monster and getting the bears, however, it was the other quest that was my highlight of the episode.

I’ve always liked Kasumi, she’s the samurai girl so that much is obvious, so seeing her get more time to develop this season has been great. Her new skills are getting to be quite flashy and it won’t be long before she has become overpowered too. I wonder what abilities she’ll get from Haku, her new snake. To top things off, we’re already gearing up for the next event which will no doubt showcase all the weird and wonderful pets the players have acquired. Of course, Maple’s tentacles will have to make an appearance. This series is just too much fun!
