What happened?

Each of the guild members is looking for something rare and unusual that would give them a boost in the next guild event. Kanade has been walking the streets taking in the sights for several days now. He recognises everyone there, player or NPC, so when he sees someone new, he follows them to a small house outside the town. However, when he goes inside, there’s no one there. He leaves and then reenters suddenly. Still no one! However, he notices that a book has changed. He has found a slime that can mimic things. Now, he just needs to defeat it to make it his familiar.

Iz has been struggling to find one that would benefit her in the support role, so when she spots one that’s suitable, she runs to see if she can get it. However, it’s a spirit and has some very high standards that must be met. Still, she’s not about to give up. Luckily, she bumps into Maple and Mii who were about to go level grinding. They agree to help her collect the things she needs. It’ll give them a chance to show off their latest skills too.

Kuromu has been on a very long quest but seems to be approaching the end. First, he’ll have to fight a horde of undead and a skeleton pirate. It all seemed too easy, but that’s probably just a reflection of his skill levels. Anyhow, he finds a familiar which is a haunted suit of armour (which will no doubt go down well with Sally). The suit of armour is able to join with Kuromu to make him even stronger. Well, that’s everyone in Maple Tree sorted. Now, let’s get to the event.

What did you think?

As you’d expect, it’s a lot of fun. Even in an episode without any of my real favourite characters, there was never a dull moment. Of course, the highlight was Maple and Mii. Now, I’m not talking about the fighting which was great. I’ll never get tired of Maple’s overpowered abilities and Syrup firing a blast of energy from its mouth. No, the best thing about Maple and Mii is that Mii gets to be herself when it’s just them. She built this impressive persona and now she’s stuck with it. Seeing her blush when Maple teased her about just wanting to show off her familiar was too cute.

There’s just something so wonderfully calm about this series that no matter what happens, you can just sit back and enjoy. I had to laugh at Iz collecting ingredients for her quest as Maple and Mii blew up everything around them. She didn’t flinch or even look away from what she was doing. And then Mii’s reaction to the tentacles was excellent. I’m starting to wonder if they may actually win an event. They’ve been close but never quite got that win. I’ve got my fingers crossed for them.
