Fire Force (Episode 44) – Weapon of Destruction

The Second and Eighth Special Fire Force launch their joint operation into the Nether. They split up to attack all points at once, but that may have played right into their enemies’ hands!
Fire Force (Episode 44) – Weapon of Destruction
What happened?
Special Fire Force Eight has divided its members between the teams from the Second since they have experience in the Nether. They’ve arranged to all go in simultaneously so that they don’t alert the White Clad to their plans. Even Maki’s brother, Takigi has decided to show up so that he can keep an eye on the man that tricked his sister. He’s got his eyes on Hinawa.
They go in fast and are hoping to get results quickly. However, a fire bomb takes out one team and the others are overrun by Infernals. To make matters worse, when a Fire Solider falls, they get back up again and attack their former friends under Ritsu’s control. It’s complete chaos with deaths occurring everywhere.
Tamiki has been assigned to the same team as Juggernaut, much to his delight. They are soon attacked by Infernals, but they have Hajiki with them whose special ability enables him to see infrared and heat signals. He quickly takes care of the Infernals, but then someone else shows up – a White Clad. No, it’s a Knight of the Purple Haze and she decapitated Hajiki in the blink of an eye. Tamaki tries to stand up to her, but she’s not strong enough. That’s when Juggernaut finds the strength to fight back.

What did you think?

We were expecting some incredible fights going into the Nether, but I wasn’t expecting this. Yomu, I know it’s often a pet peeve of yours that no one dies in shounen, so what did you make of this episode. I had to laugh at the first three deaths with the brief backstories attached. It was pretty clear it was a joke after the third guy was seen telling his new running shoes that he would wear them after the next assignment. However, Hajiki’s death was a real shock as he seemed to be pretty cool. But, for me, this episode was all about Juggernaut. What did you think?

It’s almost as if they are too scared to kill off a character that has actually been developed, so they do it this way instead. Even Hajiki was only just introduced to us before meeting his end. But it’s better than nothing anyways, the deaths give us an idea of the danger of things which we don’t normally see.
Surprised to see no Maki this episode, but also surprised to see this new order of White Clad, the Purple Haze.

Yeah, it’s probably the best we can hope for, but it did show just how dangerous this situation was. I liked that Tamaki realised how bad things were and tried to step up. Her resistance to fire will make her quite strong if she ever pulls it together. She’s obviously not there yet, but it inspired Juggernaut. I feel like we need to know more about him and his powers, such as where his body actually is. What did you think of the fight scene?

Juggernaut’s ability is cool, and we’ve gotten to know him quite well both from the journey to the mainland and now with this fight. I liked how they made it seem like Shinra had shown up at first when Tamaki asked for a hero, only for it to be revealed that it was Juggernaut.
Good to see some new enemies as well although I forget the whip lady’s name.
What did you think about Maki’s brother showing up?

I forgot her name too, but she was fairly memorable for other reasons…
It was great the Juggernaut came in when we were expecting Shinra. He’s definitely had enough time to warrant his inclusion in the main cast. As for Maki’s brother… This guy is annoying. I understand that they would want to protect her, but they seem to be oblivious to her strengths. She’s quite clearly stronger than both her father and her brother.
I’m looking forward to Hinawa showing him up, but I’d also be fine with him just kicking his ass too. So, I’m not sure what the point of him being there is other than if Maki does appear it’ll give her a chance to show him how wrong he’s been.

I have a feeling Maki’s brother is in for a humbling experience in the Nether.
But anyway, I’m sure we have more fights to witness. We’ll have to see who is next up. I’m hoping to see some action involving Arthur or Hinawa, personally.

Absolutely. Juggernaut has set the stage for some amazing fights. Let’s hope that they can keep up.
Maybe, we’ll even get to see Dr. Giovanni again…

Haha, it’s about time for Dr. Giovanni’s grand return! We’ll have to see!
