Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? II (Episode 4) – War Game | War Game
Hestia has increased her Familia and Bell has just returned from training with Ais. Now, it’s time for the Familia War. I can’t wait… This is going to be so good!
What did you watch?
It’s finally time for the Familia War between Apollo and Hestia. Everything is in place. I didn’t think I would be this excited but I am. Anyhow, this was episode 4 of Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? II. I’m just going to get straight into the review, so, as you may expect, there will be spoilers. Does Apollo look worried?
Bell has returned from training to find Hestia waiting outside the remains of their house with Welf, Liliruca, Mikoto, and Ryu. The war is about to begin. Money starts rolling across the tables as spectators place their bets, most of it going on Apollo’s Familia. The castle gates have closed and one-hundred of Apollo’s finest adventurers are ready to defend it from Hestia’s Familia. They only have to hold them out for three days, but no sooner has the games begun that they spot a lone attacker in the distance.
Ryu Lion leaps down from a cliff with two magical swords. She attacks the castle wrecking havoc and creating an opening. Half the forces charge outside to take Ryu on at the request of their commander… Mikoto sneaks in and pins a large number of their remaining forces with some gravity magic. The gates open and in walks Bell and Welf. Now, they just have to get to Hyakinthos and end it.
What did you think?
I absolutely loved this episode. From the first moment to the last, I was grinning like an idiot. It may not have been in a dungeon, but that doesn’t matter when you have action like this. I knew Ryu was going to join up with them as soon as Apollo made that stipulation in the meeting in the previous episode, but it didn’t make it any less cool when she charged at the castle alone. I seriously want a series that is just Ryu, especially one about her past where she sought revenge on the people that caused her party to die.
What was your favourite moment?
There could have easily been a whole bunch of favourite moments in this episode. I’ve already mentioned Ryu attacking the castle alone, which was awesome, so I’m going to go with the final battle between Bell and Hyakinthos. What an epic opening to the fight with Bell destroying the top of the tower with his firebolt attack. Then, just as Ais had instructed him, he waited for the moment that Hyakinthos believed he had won and was delivering his finishing attack before delivering a killer blow himself. I just loved this episode.
What was your least favourite moment?
I got nothing!
Who was your favourite character?
It was a perfectly orchestrated attack with everyone playing to their strengths and complementing one another. As such it’s hard to single any one character out, but I think I’ve got to give it to Bell as it was his victory and the hard work he’d put in to get stronger than Hyakinthos. Now, I need to see these guys get back in the dungeon and do more of this.
Who was your least favourite character?
Either Hyakinthos or Apollo. I’m not sure which I like least. It’s great because that is obviously the way I’m supposed to feel, so watching Hyakinthos get beaten and his trembling face displayed all across Orario was excellent. If only everyone had been able to see Apollo’s face after Hestia took all of his property, disbanded his Familia and banned him. Take that Apollo!
Would you like some more?
This episode was so good it felt like a climax to a season and it was only episode four. If the remaining episodes build on this and get better and better, as I hope, it should be one epic season. I can’t wait for the next one. It gets harder and harder watching these week to week. I so want to just binge the lot now!

This was super exciting and super fun to watch. I really loved it and Bell was awesome (but so was everyone else).
Yeah, it was. I loved how the plan played off all of their strengths. I’m glad they got it done as quickly as they did. It caught they off guard for sure.
Yes, it definitely wouldn’t have been as exciting if they’d stretched it out over three days. More to the point, Bell would have been at a disadvantage given Apollo’s numbers if he’d gone for a more drawn out strategy.
For sure. It was an all or nothing approach and they definitely wouldn’t have expected it.
