Princess Connect! Re: Dive (Episode 20) – The Prankster Pixie ~Cuore in the Mist~
What happened?
They had just rescued Ayane and Kurumi from some bees when they found Chika stumbling into town. She didn’t recognise anyone and couldn’t even remember her name. They took her to the Cocaktrice’s Nest where they can try to find out what happened. However, Kurumi suddenly jumps to her feet, slaps Charlie, and then yells at him saying he promised he would leave his wife for her. Then, Chika starts acting like a dog, even licking and then biting Nozomi’s face. They manage to get some sense out of Chika briefly, which gives Pecorine and Karyl a mission to complete.
They get back and attempt to subdue the mischievous spirit known as Foggy, however, when Pecroine attacks with Princess Strike, it does nothing. Foggy retaliates but Yuuki steps between them and finds himself in an old memory with his old friends as they are about to head off on another quest. This time to Sol Tower, the structure that hangs in the sky above Landosol. He returns to the present and activates his Princess Knight support magic which allows Chika and Nozomi to defeat Foggy. Kokkoro is glad that everyone is back to normal, although Yuuki seems to have a new intensity in his eyes.

What did you think?
This episode killed me. It was an incredible mix of humour, heartfelt bonds, and heartbreaking realisations. The humour seemed around the lost and replaced memories. Charlie took an absolute beating in this episode but he got to see Nozomi and Chika up close and Saren was the last person to hit him which seemed to be fine with him. The fact that we had two separate “Meep” moments from Kokkoro should tell you all you need to know.
Then, there was the moment between Pecorine and Karyl which made Karyl let her guard down so much she almost revealed that she knew who Pecorine really was. Maybe Pecorine heard her and chose not to say anything! Finally, we got to see Yuuki’s memory of his first party as they were about to attempt to climb the Sol Tower. I can only assume that ended badly as we find ourselves in this iteration of the world. That moment at the end when Yuuki was staring up at the tower was intense.

What have you learnt?
I love the way this series has been able to blend together the fun and carefree attitude that permeates most of the series with a dark and mysterious thread that runs beneath everything. That has to be the way that we can have episodes like this that work so well. I also think the fact that it took its time to introduce us to the characters and go on numerous adventures before really getting serious. Even then, it was subtle.
I think the fun nature of the episodes has helped us to bond with the characters. Seeing them bond with one another has just been the cherry on top. I feel like I need to know everything about this series and the first game. There’s so much detail and thought that has gone into crafting a brilliant story that it deserves far more attention than it’s getting. If you’ve read this and still haven’t seen this series, please do so. You will not be disappointed.
