Princess Connect! Re: Dive (Episode 23) – Landosol at Sundown

Mana Senri is moving straight to the end game after narrowly defeating Labyrista. With Karyl doing her bidding, she intends to drain Landosol and its citizens dry! Will Pecorine be able to stand against Karyl?
Princess Connect! Re: Dive (Episode 23) – Landosol at Sundown
What happened?
Diablos was attacked and only Miyako and Shinobu escaped. That was shocking enough, but the attacker was none other than Karyl and she was assisted by Labyrista’s abilities. Miyako and Shinobu managed to make their way to the Gourmet Guild where they found Yuuki, Kokkoro, and Pecorine. They too couldn’t believe that Karyl could do something like that, but Miyako and Shinobu were convinced.
Then the ground started to shake as Labyrista’s powers were used once more, this time to seal off the entire city of Landosol. The people started to panic and ran to the castle for help. However, it was sealed off from them too with Mana Senri sitting on a throne looking down on them. She commanded Karyl to begin.
Thousands of shadows emerged across the city and began to consume the citizens. Many ran, some tried to fight back, but they were trapped and massively outnumbered. Pecorine, Yuuki, and Kokkoro ran to the castle to confront Karyl. On the way there, Kokkoro had a strange feeling and then Yuuki passed out, no doubt from another flashback. It was terrible timing. Luckily, Charlie and their other friends from the market area were there to help.
Pecorine reached the castle and attempted to attack Mana. Karyl got in the way. Pecorine tried to reason with her, asked her why she abandoned the Gourmet Guild, and all the great times they had together. Karyl simply said that the hands of time cannot be turned back. That was when a strange sound filled the city. It was Yuni communicating through all the stones in the city which she had given an artificial consciousness like Rosetta.
Yuni revealed that the person sitting on the throne was not Princess Eustiana. They have all been deceived. This enraged Mana. She demanded that Karyl kill everyone now. Karyl began to attack without mercy, targeting everyone and anyone. But then, she stopped. It was too much, however, Mana was not ready to let her quit and forced her to continue. Pecorine announced that she was the true Princess Eustiana and would end this now.

What did you think?
Things just got serious! I was wondering how Karyl would react to the events of the last episode, but I didn’t think she would completely buy into Mana’s plan. I was hoping that the mask was Mana’s way of controlling Karyl, but it would appear it was more to hide the shame of her decision. I’ve never been a huge fan of Karyl so it doesn’t bother me either way, but I feel like her treachery has gone too far. She’s seen what Mana is and still chose to align with her.
It was a dark moment for Pecorine though and it’s her that I really feel sorry for. She believed that Karyl was like a sister to her. She was always considerate and thoughtful and probably would have continued to be even if she knew what Karyl was really up to. That’s the kind of person she is. I can’t wait to see the next two episodes as it looks to me like we’re going to get the big finish. Hopefully, we’ll get a little more explanation of what this world is and how Yuuki fits into everything.

What have you learnt?
I was a little surprised that we went straight into the big battle, but it makes a lot of sense, especially from Mana’s point of view. She was almost defeated by Labyrista and would have been had Labyrista not held back when Karyl appeared. If that’s what one of the Seven Crown can do to her in this state, it wouldn’t take much for several of the others to team up. I’m pretty sure Christina is itching for a fight as always.
I wonder what Yuuki’s flashback was about and why it impacted Kokkoro. It feels like it’s going to be important to the outcome. Hopefully, it wasn’t Ameth preparing to pull him out of the world again! It would be horrible if everything went wrong once more and he was forced to start all over again. Either way, I think we’re in for an emotional couple of episodes. Make suitable preparations!
