Princess Connect! Re: Dive (Episode 4) – Welcome to the Gourmet Guild ~Beef Stew at Nightfall~
What happened?
So, it turns out the Guild House hasn’t been used for a long time and has been overrun with bugs and snakes. There may even be ghosts… Therefore, the first order of business for the Gourmet Guild is to clean up and make the place liveable. Yuuki and Pecorine move all of the furniture outside and discover that there isn’t a dining table. Of course, Pecorine is horrified and gets to work on making one. This leaves Yuuki and Karyl to keep cleaning while Kokkoro heads into town to buy supplies. There, she meets Saren, a former knight that now runs an orphanage who even lends the services of her assistant, Suzume to help carry her things back. On the way back, they get lost in a dark forest and meet a llama-girl called Rima who helps them out of a jam.
While cleaning, Yuuki falls and bumps his head. While he’s unconscious, he meets the girl that sent him to the planet’s surface who makes some curious statements about his new friends.
What did you think?
All right, I think I’ve come to terms with the food-based guild, but only because I’m kind of enjoying the characters and their unusual quirks. It’s also nice to see a kawaii show where all of the characters don’t look like little girls. There were hints at some more interesting and possibly sinister stories awaiting us further down the line and I’m hoping that they do come to be. Right now, however, I’m fine with just hanging out with these characters, chilling, and having the occasional laugh. Also, Kokkoro makes the cutest sounds and faces. She’s not my type, though, that is, of course, Pecorine- the overpowered princess with the big sword… As if anyone is surprised!
What have you learnt?
It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with Yuuki when he gets his memories back and exactly what the false truths are that no one is aware of. I like that this series is trying to build some mystery around the idea of a guild that likes food. It should make for some fun quests while the real story slowly unravels. I do think we need to go on a good quest in the next episode, especially after spending an episode cleaning, cooking, and doing some carpentry. It’s fun, but I definitely need some action every now and then, and since this series did a great job of that in the first two episodes, I’m sure it will be back.

“She’s not my type, though, that is, of course, Pecorine- the overpowered princess with the big sword… As if anyone is surprised!”
Pecorine is awesome. She’s probably my favorite new character this season. Though Rin has some serious potential…
Yeah, I’m looking forward to Rin getting involved in Fruits Basket, but unless she picks up and sword and starts kicking ass it’s going to be hard to compete with Pecorino.
I hope the donkey is okay.
Lost in a scary woods. It’ll probably end up moving in with an ogre…
